The Alliance for Intellectual Property celebrated this year’s British IP Day by highlighting the continuing importance of Intellectual Property to the UK economy and society.
It also marked the 25th anniversary of the Alliance and all the people who have contributed to its success in campaigning for high standards of IP protection in the UK.
During the day, Alliance members and others with a keen interest in IP policy heard from Chi Onwurah MP, the Shadow Minister for IP, on Labour’s approach to IP policy. The meeting was kindly hosted in Parliament by Kevin Brennan MP, a member of the Media, Culture and Sport Select Committee and a long-standing supporter of the creative industries.
The day ended with a reception, hosted by Pete Wishart, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for IP, on the terrace of the House of Commons at which attendees heard a keynote speech from Viscount Camrose.
The event was also attended by Rt Hon Sir John Whittingdale OBE MP, Minister of State for Media, Tourism and the Creative Industries and Nigel Huddleston MP, Minister for International Trade alongside many other Parliamentarians from all the political parties.
The Parliamentary reception, which was kindly sponsored by the Premier League and the BPI also included the annual awarding of the IP Champion award.
