23rd of June saw the 19th Annual FOCAL International Awards, and the first in-person event since 2019, held at the Landmark hotel in London and presented by actress Sally Phillips.
Awards went to producers, researchers and restorers of archive footage from all corners of the globe showing the passion, artistry and integrity of the industry that FOCAL represents.
We’ve already seen some of the entrants, and winners, on TV this year Like Muhammad Ali and Bruno v Tyson and can only hope that the others like Latin Noir from South America, Street Gang: How We Got Sesame Street from the USA, Charlie Chaplin The Genius of Liberty from France, Playing with Sharks from Australia and Lost Connection from Yorkshire Film Archive will a gain their deserved wider audience.
